GRACE/-FO OBP-barslv SLAM

Website under construction

GRACE/GRACE-FO SLAM is derived from the GravIS barslv product. It represents barystatic ocean-mass changes together with their spatial sea-level fingerprints. barslv is part of the GFZ and COST-G GravIS Level-3 ocean-bottom-pressure products. The products separate the background-model ocean-circulation pressure (model ocean), the GRACE/GRACE-FO-derived residual ocean-bottom-pressure signal (resobp), and land-to-ocean leakage (leakage). Additionally, the products include barslv from solving the sea level equation (incl. loading and self-attraction) for the excess mass necessary to close the global mass budget between atmosphere (AOD1B atmosphere background model based on atmospheric surface pressure from the fifth generation reanalysis of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ERA5; Hersbach et al., 2020) for 1960 until 2017 and the operational ECMWF data product since 2018) and observed terrestrial water storage (TWS) changes.

GravIS Level-3 products GFZ and COST-G are derived from time-variable satellite gravity fields representing integrated terrestrial mass redistribution at monthly time steps and an effective spatial resolution of 1°. The GFZ product is based on GFZ RL06 GRACE/GRACE-FO spherical-harmonic gravity-field solutions, whereas the COST-G solution is based on the corresponding combination solutions produced by the Combination Service for Time-variable Gravity Fields (COST-G). The Level-2 gravity solutions are post-processed to replace poorly determined low-degree coefficients, account for geocenter motion and GIA, and suppress correlated errors using anisotropic VDK filtering before synthesis into Level-3 mass grids. The operational GravIS Level-3 processing combines differently filtered solutions: deterministic components including trend, annual, and semiannual variations are treated separately from the residual variability.
