Access to the IGETS data base

The access to the IGETS data base for data product download is only possible for registered users. For registration please enter the registration page.

Currently, the data download is still possible via classical ftp on igetsftp.gfz-potsdam.de.

But for security reasons, the GFZ will switch off unencrypted ftp access to the IGETS data base by 10. May 2025.

This applies to both data producers as well as data users!

That means, only encrypted access via sftp will then be possible. We kindly ask you to switch your system to this feature as soon as possible. 

For this purpose, we recommend using the following tools:  

• Windows: WinSCP, FileZilla
• Linux: FileZilla or command line comannds
• MacOS: FileZilla, CyberDuck or command line commands
• For all PC systems: rclone (https://rclone.org/downloads/)  

During the switch from ftp to sftp, your login account and your password as well as the name of the ftp-server will not be changed.

Please note: GFZ has changed its internet URL from "gfz-potsdam.de" into "gfz.de". The former URL "gfz-potsdam.de" will be switched off by end of this year. Therefore, please use "igetsftp.gfz.de" from now on as name for the igets ftp-server! In case of question please send a message to igets-support(at)gfz.de

Data producers can provide a public ssh key to GFZ to enable sftp login without password for data upload. Please contact us via a message to igets-support(at)gfz.de
